Under the brand name ‘Anny Way’ MATERNA GmbH (Information
& Communications) has been offering products and solutions
within the telecommunications area since the spring of
2000. The target groups consist of network carriers, service
providers and companies from different business areas.
MATERNA’s business activities focus on international sales
in Europe, USA, the Middle East and Arabic states and
Asia. The Headquarter of MATERNA is in Dortmund, Germany.
The company has more than 1000 employees and subsidiaries
all over the world. MATERNA offers several kinds of innovative
products and services which will be shown at this year´s
ARABCOM held in Beirut 16th – 17th June, MATERNA stand
A9.
In detail the solutions are:
Multimedia
Messaging Service Center (MMSC)
The MMSC from MATERNA is a highly powerful platform for
sending and receiving multimedia messages. For development
of this central network element, MATERNA took advantage
of their long-term experience with SMS value added services.
In numerous tests, for example, with the international
standardization group OMA, MATERNA proved the functional
capacity of their MMSC. Currently, MATERNA is the leading
provider of MMSC for the Arabian region. Since November
2003 MTC Vodafone Bahrain uses the MMS Center from MATERNA.
The decision for product can also be put down to the positive
experience that the network operator MTC Vodafone Kuwait,
also a member of the Vodafone group, has already made
with the solution from Dortmund. The MATERNA product has
been successfully deployed there since the end of 2002.
Mobile
Application and Content Server (MACS)
The main features of the MACS platform are the aggregation
of content from several content providers, the provision
of various billing methods and flexible business models.
MACS is compatible with any text and binary content, i.
e. SMS, MMS, ring tones, logos, screensavers, games as
well as audio and video files. Complete platform administration
can be done via HTML front-ends, no expert knowledge necessary.
Mobile
Data Gateway (WAP 2.0)
The Gateway includes a great advantage; With only one
network element, companies and network operators are able
to manage all services, whether it bases itself on WAP
1.1, WAP 1.2.1 or WAP 2.0. As the first WAP gateway of
this standard, the MATERNA development includes the protocol
stacks WP TCP and WP HTTP, parallel to the WAP protocol
that has been used before. This makes the Anny Way Mobile
Data Gateway a product that, supporting both stacks at
the same time, enables a standardized access to mobile
Internet services for cell phone models that are already
on the market as well as newly developed ones.
SMS
Services and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)
With its SMS value-added services, MATERNA provides the
carriers and providers with, among other things, messaging,
entertainment, information and gateway services. The supply
covers modules for the individual design of a mobile phone,
such as bell tones or logos, but also chat and info modules.
The MATERNA Editorial Department, in existence since 1998,
provides high-quality content and creative ideas for new
and attractive SMS and WAP services.
Fixed
Net SMS and Fixed Net MMS
The value-added services for the fixed network comprise,
mailing of SMS messages from a fixed network telephone
to another national fixed network telephone, either as
a text-based SMS or as an SMS-to-speech. If the telephone
cannot receive any text messages on the display, then
the short message, which is automatically delivered as
a voicemail, will be read out to the recipient. In addition,
it is possible to send an SMS message from the fixed network
to an email address. With this MATERNA service, SMS messages
can be also sent from the fixed network into all German
mobile communication networks.
