the globe, connecting key business centres and Internet
markets throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the
USA. Today, our network and services provide the foundations
underpinning the networks of many of the world's largest
and best-known telecoms carriers, Internet operators and
content providers.
FLAG

Group of Companies. Reliance is India's largest business
house. Whilst our relationship with Reliance brings a strong
foundation for growth, plus many complementary skills and
assets, we retain our distinct brand identity and carrier
neutrality.
Beyond
network coverage and stability, FLAG offers its customers
many other important benefits. We are focused on doing the
simple things well. We guarantee that our services will
be implemented on schedule, will achieve defined quality
standards and will perform consistently. Our size and agility
enable us to respond rapidly to customer requirements and
market opportunities, and to adapt our solutions quickly
to serve specific needs. We offer highly competitive provisioning
times, 'pay as you use' pricing and contract terms ranging
from one week up to the lifetime of the network. We are
a multi-cultural organisation, with employees of over 30
nationalities in 19 international locations. We are experienced
in conducting business 'the local way' across diverse cultures
and markets, and have the ability to facilitate connectivity
between operators and premises on opposite sides of the
globe.
With

service set and a forward looking strategy, we are ideally
positioned to continue serving the information transport
needs of our customers into the 21st century.

Product to be exhibited:
What
to see: Defining the
Standard for Excellence in International Wholesale Network
Services
Beirut, Lebanon, 16 June 2004 - FLAG Telecom, a leading
provider of international wholesale network transport
and communications services, will be exhibiting at Arabcom
2004, being held in Beirut from 16-17 June 2004. Walid
Irshaid, FLAG’s President Middle East and Africa will
be speaking at the Conference on 16 June 2004.
FLAG
Telecom owns and manages a robust and extensive global
optical fibre network connecting key business markets
in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the USA. FLAG also
owns and operates a state of the art IP network, which
offers low latency, reliable IP services across the globe.
At the show the company will be focusing on its extensive
range of bandwidth, IP and global Ethernet services offered
to the wholesale communications and Internet community.
FLAG will also be showcasing FALCON, a new multi-terabit
cable system providing a resilient loop around the Gulf
region and submarine links stretching from Egypt in the
West to Hong Kong in the East.
The
exhibit will underscore FLAG’s aim of defining the standard
for excellence in providing the best quality, best value
and most flexible connectivity eastwards and westwards
between any two points on its network.
Walid
Irshaid, President Middle East and Africa, FLAG Telecom
said: “The Arabcom events are key dates in the telecommunications
calendar and we are looking forward to meeting our many
customers and industry colleagues at the show. FALCON
will unlock the broadband opportunity in the Gulf and
wider Middle East region, areas traditionally underserved
with international bandwidth. We are delighted to be playing
a key role in meeting the growing regional demands for
high quality, reliable global broadband connectivity.”
FALCON will include the Gulf region’s first self-healing
submarine network ring providing all countries connected
to the high capacity cable with extremely reliable, high
quality connectivity. Countries that have the potential
to directly access this resilient connectivity include
Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Iraq. All of these countries
have shown interest in joining FALCON and most are in
advanced discussions with FLAG Telecom regarding their
participation. Branching units can be added along the
entire FALCON cable route to allow more countries in the
region to connect to the system as their communications
needs continue to expand.
FLAG’s
cable network already spans the globe and the company
has an acknowledged reputation for a centralised end-to-end
network management, underpinned by exceptional quality
and service support. FLAG offers customers east and west
routing, meaning traffic can be switched at any time to
avoid a cable cut or natural disaster. FALCON is planned
to provide additional resilience across the major route
from Egypt to Hong Kong and particularly around the Middle
East.
On
12 January 2004, FLAG Telecom amalgamated with Reliance
Gateway and became a member company of the Reliance Group.
Reliance is India’s biggest business house, and the deal
with FLAG was the first international acquisition of the
Group. FLAG Telecom will retain its brand identity and
mission to be the carrier of choice for the international
carrier community. The company will continue to deliver
customer value through the leverage of its existing network,
supported by focused strategic investments that maintain
competitive advantage.
FLAG’s
network is truly global, and the ability to route traffic
both east-about and west-about means that we offer customers
peace of mind. With a unique network footprint, differentiated
service set, solid financial foundations and a forward
looking strategy, we are ideally positioned to continue
serving the information transport needs of current and
future customers into the 21st century.
