BIOGRAPHY Mr. A.Andreas Avgousti General Director A. Andreas Avgousti was appointed as the General Director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain in December 2003. He holds a masters degree in law specialising in the application of competition law and is a member of the English, Hong Kong and Cyprus Bar. Prior to his current appointment he held the position of Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs and Company Secretary of a new entrant in the Greek Fixed Telephony market. During the period 1998-2000 he served in Hong Kong as a senior consultant to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (OFTA), the Broadcasting Authority (BA) and the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority (TELA) and was responsible for advising on competition law and policy whilst at the same time advised the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) on the drafting of the new telecommunications law and the implications of the EU telecommunications laws and regulations. Andreas has worked for the period 1995 -1998 at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the United Kingdom (OFTEL) from where he left as the Director of Competition and Fair Trading . Before that he served as a Senior Crown Prosecutor in London. A. Andreas Avgousti has for a number of years been a contributor to a number of legal periodicals including The European Commercial Cases and The European Competition Law Review.
